At present the Society has approximately 60 members. There is an open membership policy to accommodate artists of all standards. The emphasis is on self-improvement through the exchange of ideas and friendly encouragement.

 

Weekly meetings are held on Thursdays 1.30.to 4.30 pm at Townstal Community Hall from mid-September to around the end of May with a Christmas break.

 

There is a varied programme, including about 6 demonstrations each year by professional artists, for which there is a charge of £5, and occasionally, demonstrations of techniques by members or sessions on specific topics like still life arrangements. On days other than those of professional artist demonstrations, members are free to bring work of their own choosing.

 

Most of the professional artist demonstrations are followed by popular all-day workshops which accommodate about 15 participants and are charged individually at a very reasonable cost.

 

An Annual Exhibition takes place in the summer at which all members may exhibit both framed and unframed original works for sale. Modest hanging and commission fees are charged.

 

In January there is a private Members’ Exhibition at which awards are presented.

 

Membership is £25 per annum (1st April-31st March).  A one-off fee of £5 is charged on joining. An application form is available and payment can be made by cash, cheque or Bank Transfer.
